Everything in detail.

01

Who we are

Fortivance Academy is a proprietorship based in Gurugram, India, offering online professional training through fortivanceacademy.com (the “Platform”). In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Fortivance Academy, and “you” means anyone who visits or learns on the Platform.

We decide why and how your personal data is used, which makes us the “Data Fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) — and the “controller” under laws such as the EU and UK GDPR.

02

What we collect

Data How we get it
Name, email address and phone number You give these to us when you create an account or make a purchase.
Course progress and test results Recorded automatically as you watch lessons, take quizzes and attempt practice tests.
Purchase records Created when you buy a course, roadmap bundle, membership or test series — what you bought, when, and the amount paid.
Basic technical information Recorded automatically by the Platform to keep it working and secure, such as your browser type, device and IP address.
We never see or store your card or bank details. Payments are handled entirely by our payment gateway. We also don’t collect sensitive information such as health data, government IDs, biometrics or beliefs.
03

How we use your data

We use your data only for clear, specific purposes:

  • Creating and managing your account, and giving you access to what you’ve purchased.
  • Tracking your progress and test results so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Issuing certificates in your name when you complete a course.
  • Processing payments, confirming purchases and handling refund requests.
  • Responding to your questions and support requests.
  • Sending you the emails described in the next section.
  • Keeping the Platform secure and preventing misuse or fraud.
  • Meeting our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We won’t use your data for any purpose that isn’t compatible with these without telling you first and, where required, asking for your consent.

04

Emails we send

Besides essential account and purchase emails, we may write to you about:

  • New courses, roadmaps and offers we think you’ll find useful.
  • Reminders about a payment you started but didn’t complete.
  • Notices that your membership is about to expire or renew.

Every one of these emails includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Essential messages — such as purchase receipts or important account notices — will still reach you, because you need them to use the Platform.

05

Who we share it with

We keep the circle small. Your data is shared only with:

  • Graphy, the learning platform that hosts Fortivance Academy. Graphy stores your account, progress and test data on our behalf and sends our emails.
  • Our payment gateway, which processes your payments securely.
  • Authorities, only where the law requires it — for example, in response to a valid legal order.

These service providers may use your data only to provide their services to us, and not for their own purposes. We never sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

06

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers used by our platform provider, Graphy, which are located in India. Because we serve learners around the world, and because our service providers may operate internationally, your data may sometimes be processed outside your country. Wherever that happens, we expect it to be protected to the standard described in this policy and as required by applicable law.

07

How long we keep it

Our courses come with lifetime access, so we keep your account data — including your progress, test results and certificates — for as long as your account exists. That way, your learning is always there when you come back.

You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time. When you do, we’ll delete it, except for records we’re legally required to keep, such as payment and transaction records under tax and accounting laws. Those are kept only for as long as the law requires, and then deleted.

08

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Access — get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correct or update — fix anything that’s inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete — erase your personal data, subject to the legal exceptions in section 07.
  • Withdraw consent — for example, by unsubscribing from marketing emails. This doesn’t affect anything done before you withdrew.
  • Nominate — under the DPDP Act, name someone who can exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to do so.
  • Raise a grievance — tell us if you’re unhappy with how your data has been handled.

To use any of these rights, email contactus@fortivanceacademy.com from your registered email address. We’ll acknowledge your request within 5 working days and resolve it within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, to protect your account.

If you’re in India and aren’t satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

09

Learners outside India

Fortivance Academy welcomes learners from around the world. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights.

European Union, EEA and United Kingdom (GDPR)

We process your data because it’s needed to provide the courses you signed up for, to meet legal obligations, for our legitimate interest in keeping the Platform secure and improving it, and — for marketing emails — on the basis of your consent. In addition to the rights above, you can ask us to restrict or object to certain processing and to provide your data in a portable format. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (EU authorities listed here; in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

California, United States (CCPA)

We collect the categories of data described in section 02 for the purposes in section 03. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You have the right to know, correct and delete your personal information, and we won’t treat you differently for exercising these rights.

10

Learners under 18

Fortivance Academy is designed for adult learners, and the Platform is intended for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, please learn with us only through a parent or guardian, who should create the account, make any purchase and consent to the use of your data.

We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent, and we never direct targeted marketing at anyone we know to be under 18. If you believe a child has given us their data without that consent, please contact us and we’ll delete it promptly.

11

Security

We and our service providers use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards — such as encrypted connections, access controls and secure hosting — to protect your data from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No system is completely secure, so please keep your password private and let us know straight away if you suspect your account has been compromised.

If a personal data breach affects you, we’ll tell you without undue delay: what happened, what it may mean for you, what we’re doing about it, and how to reach us. We’ll also notify the authorities as required by law.

12

Cookies

The Platform uses cookies that are needed for it to work — for example, to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and keep your session secure. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies in your browser settings, though blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the Platform from working.

13

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when the law changes or we add new features. We’ll always show the effective date at the top of this page, and if we make significant changes, we’ll let you know by email or through the Platform before they take effect.

14

Contact & grievances

For any privacy question, request or complaint, please write to our Grievance Officer:

We’ll acknowledge your message within 5 working days and resolve it within 30 days.
